September 08 Psalm 91:1-2 Psalm 91: 1-2
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust."
July 02 It makes my heart happy......Hi everyone, We planted a perennial garden on Saturday. Sweetie did the digging and I did the planting. We "invested in" (haha!) one raspberry eyes butterfly bush, three purple coneflowers, and three purple spider wort plants. Then we robbed the yard of three large lily plants that weren't thriving where they were and three hostas that were in the strangest spots in the yard. That was like getting six plants for free! Yipee! We still want to get some lavendar and lamb's ears. It makes my heart happy to plant a garden, especially one that will come back every year! Happy gardening! See you on QnA. Love, Sweetie Pie June 29 Slip sliding away...I've been back to North Carolina on family business since vacation and stayed a week. I sure was glad to get home(PA.). I missed Sweetie! Life has been pretty normal since then. Last week we kept 4 of our granddaughters so our son and his wife could move from one house to another. Boy, was that a job! and lots of fun! (keeping the girls not the moving. haha!) Can you say "slip 'n slide"? About twice everyday. They did the sliding not me. Oh, lord, can you just get a picture of that in your mind! haha! We also had their dog. He and Teddy had peeing contests in the yard and in the house! Thank goodness we have hardwood floors. I walked with a bottle of Clorox cleaner and a roll of paper towels just waiting for one of the girls to yell, "Nannie, they did it again!" At least they didn't fight. Altogether it was a nice time and I feel like the girls are closer to me now. I know Liza, the 3 year old is securely bonded to her Nannie & Papa now. She doesn't remember the last time we lived in their hometown. I'd do it again... at the end of the summer! haha! You all be well and happy. God bless you all, your friend, Sweetie Pie May 20 Vacation...I'm having a wonderful, busy time in North Carolina. I've been to Relay For Life and one of my sister's fellow nurses won the quilt in the raffle. I went to a quilt show yesterday and to church today with family at the church Sweetie and I got married in. Tomorrow I'm going with my brother-in-law and sister-in-law to an art show at the N.C. Aquarium at Atlantic Beach. Hopefully I will get some pics of the ocean then. Tell ya more later, Sweetie Pie May 09 Leaving ...not on a jet plane HAHA!...I'll be leaving for North Carolina on Saturday for two weeks so I can be there for Relay For Life. That's a rally finale for fund raising for breast cancer research. That's what I made the quilt out of donated scrub tops for. Hope to get pics on site of the quilt when I get back. I get back on the 26th and Sweetie leaves for Guatamala early morning of the 27th. He'll be gone a week. The team will be building a computer lab at an orphanage for 40 computers a company in Pittsburgh donated. Isn't that great?!!! Will blog again when I get back, Gaylyn, Sweetie Pie. May 05 Finished quiltingI finished quilting at precisely 3:11 AM on Thursday morning !!!!! Halleluia !!!! I now have to put the binding and label on and it will be done. I am so happy !!! April 30 Home from trip to N.CDear All, Our trip to N.C. was great. Hillary and Ricky's wedding was beautiful and sweet. We even got to see our niece Christie and her new baby boy, Jared. He is so snuggly and nice. He's quite a handsome boy. We saw the foundation of our nephew's new house. They are excited to get started and I'm a little jealous! HAHA Unfortunately, " ... here we have no continuing city..." and do not build houses at this point, but we are " looking for that which is to come!" We saw my sister, Cheryll and Arthur and their new kitchen is fantastic. I took the quilt by Dr. Lawrence's office for the girls to see it and they loved it. It will be sold by raffle for Relay For Life on May 18th. Arlie is going to take me down to N.C. on May 12th and he'll turn around and come back to PA on the 13th so I can be at the rally. It was fun last year and I'm looking forward to it.
When we got home, Yoshi was sick nigh unto death. She was dehydrated and had been sick all over the hallway and bathroom floor. Arlie took her to the vet and he gave her subcutaneous fluids and we gave her half of a little tiny pill for a couple of days and she got well. We'll never know what went on with her but I'm sure glad we got home when we did.
I'm tired out the wazoo so I'm going to bed now.
Will write more later,
Gaylyn April 09 Resurrection SundayHi all,
We had a nice trip to Johnstown to visit with Nancy and Chandler and their girls and Kenny and Melanie and their girls. We stayed at Nancy and Chandler's house. We went out to Kenny and Mel's Saturday evening and Arlie and Mel made "tout suite" for supper. It was good and the kids liked it too. It is basically a hamburger goulash that is very quick to make. We gave Anne-Marie, Katherine, Ruby and Liza their Easter goodie bags and they acted very happy. They are so fun too watch and so loving. Giving us lots of hugs and moochies. We went to church at Oakland United Methodist with Nancy and Chandler and Carlie and Abigail. The service was lovely. I really like to visit their church. The new pastor is very good and very friendly. We ate at Ryan's buffet and had a nice time. Then we came on home and were glad for the safe trip. Next weekend we will go to North Carolina for Hillary's wedding. She is my cousin's daughter. We'll get to see all the family down there. We will stay with Arlie's brother, Kenny and his wife, Dollie. We have so much fun with them, love 'em to pieces. Looking forward to seeing Arlie's mom and my sister, Cheryll and her husband, Art. Also Nathan and my niece Michelle and her daughter, Chelsea, aka, Queenie. Will blog when we get back. Gaylyn April 04 Sweetie PieXtremelywild1 asked me to create a new user name so I have. Since I call my husband Sweetie on qna I have named myself Sweetie Pie. I like it, will X? I hope so . Wonder how long he's had that on his mind? March 28 Added albums I added some pics today. Some of Nancy's family while on a trip, some of the lighthouses and historical sites where I am from and some from our trip back from two years in California. Nancy flew out to help drive back. Nathan is our younger son, 7'2"! The Silver Lake at Ocracoke is actually the bay but they call it a lake. Ocracoke Island is part of the outer banks of North Carolina. My mom's dad, my grandfather, was from there and was stationed at the lighthouse when he was in the US Coast guard. My mom was raised down the banks on Harkers Island which is five miles long and one mile wide at its widest point.
My father retired out of the Air Force on Harkers Island and I went to High School while living there. My husband is from Marshallberg on the coast about five miles away. We left there the day we got married and have lived alot of places which I will tell you about later. We do want to retire there someday, the good Lord willing.
I forgot to mention that my father-in-law was stationed at Fort Macon with the Army during WWll. sore fingersI have quilted just long enough now to have sore fingers from poking them with the needle. Not getting done fast enough, I'm afraid.
Planted pansies in five containers with Arlie after church. They look pretty. I was thrilled to pieces this morning to see that all the forsythia in the neighborhood had bloomed over night!
Got an estimate on getting the yard raked and mowed today - only $275.00 !!! Can you believe that? Guess who's going to be raking a little each day!
Gotta go, I am bushed. March 23 finally quiltingI have finally started quilting the quilt. YEAH!!!!!!!! Gotta go. My break is over!!! I'm sooooo happy!!!!!!!! looking upThings are looking up a little for me. I don't have the blahs quite as bad as a day or two ago. I finished pinning the quilt sandwich together and will actually start quilting tomorrow! I have invited Snugglebum from Canada to be a friend and it will be so exciting if she accepts. I can't wait to plant something in the yard. Like mom says I need to get my hands dirty. Going to bed now. It's 2;08 AM. Bye. March 21 the last few days... The last few days I have been under the weather with a bad case of the blahs and bad joint pain in my left knee and right hip. Thank the good lord for Arlie, he has been handling supper and other necessities. I don't know what I'd do without him.
I really need to get on the ball with the quilt for Cheryll's ( my sister) office's raffle for Relay for Life, the cancer research fund raiser. We had to go to Johnstown to get the fabric for the backing because it was not available here. We went after church on Sunday and while we were there we attended the play "Heaven's Gate and Hell's Fires". Nancy and her whole family were in it. It was excellent and at the end over two hundred people made decisions for Christ. We got home at 1 am.
Well, Arlie is home and has walked Teddy so I'm going to go help cook supper. Have a great day or good evening. Gaylyn |
